Teledentistry is best understood as a virtual dental visit and combines the use of telehealth systems and methodologies available in dentistry. Telehealth covers a broad range of technologies and tactics to provide you with the best virtual medical, health and educational services specific to your current dental issue. It is most often used when a face-to-face visit with your dental professional is not available and you are having a dental emergency.
We’re here for you! When you give us a call, our experienced team will gather information to help the doctor evaluate the immediate situation and provide the appropriate action. If the doctor recommends using Teledentistry, you may be asked to sign a Teledentistry Waiver form (insurance asks us to dot our “i’s” and cross our “t’s”), send us a picture or video using your smartphone or other device, and be available for a remote consultation with the doctor. The doctor will recommend specific treatment, may appoint you for appropriate treatments at one of our three locations as soon as possible or may provide a referral to a specialist.
Our offices often communicate remotely via modules like picture sending through text, email or Dropbox. We also synchronously consult via FaceTime, WhatsApp or Zoom. We will do our best to find a platform that is best for your unique situation!
